The Mosin-Nagant is a bolt-action, civilian-grade rifle.

During the Russo-Ottoman War in 1877-1888, Russia saw the need to modernize the armory of the Imperial Army. The Mosin-Nagant was designed in 1891 as a solution to that need, and production of the rifle began in the same year. It used the new 7.62x54mmR cartridge with a 5 round internal magazine system. The rifle saw widespread success, and was later used by other countries, such as Finland and China.

The Mosin-Nagant is one of the longest rifles in the game, a bit longer than the Lee-Enfield. It has a simple cylindrical barrel and a triangular stock. The frame of the weapon is mostly wooden, with the exception of the magazine plate and the reciever on the top of the rifle. The stock of the weapon is completely wooden, and the bolt handle is located on the reciever above the trigger area to the right of the stock.

The Mosin-Nagant has an extremely long range. The sights of the Mosin-Nagant are also extremely accurate. Both of these factors make for extremely accurate long range shooting, being able to hit targets at around 325 studs with near pinpoint accuracy. The damage of the cartridge is high enough to cause considerable wounds, and to kill a zombie with 2 hits, (or 1 headshot like every gun), while also often being able to penetrate through the kevlar helmets of the military zombies. The weapon is also accurate when hipfiring, making for easy shooting when on the move. The drawbacks of this weapon are its 5 round magazine capacity, and low rate of fire caused by having to operate the bolt after each round fired.

Recommended UseEdit

As a primary weapon, the Mosin-Nagant is not the best choice for people with a bandit playstyle, as the low rate of fire and low magazine capacity can mean death in a firefight at close ranges. The Mosin-Nagant can be used as one of the best sniper weapons, however, due to the extreme range, high accuracy, and great sights. The Mosin-Nagant is also a great choice as a backup weapon for players who have a primary weapon with a poor range, such as a shotgun or a submachine gun.

  • The Mosin-Nagant was one of the first weapons to be added to the game.
  • The Mosin-Nagant is one of the default weapons in The Apocalypse Games, a round-based game using Apocalypse Rising systems.
